Nono gets as much joy dancing to music as she does reflecting on it – either as an academic researcher, DJ, producer, promoter, radio host and zine maker.
As Nono Gigsta her DJ-sets are playful yet precise, combining the old to the brand new, the silly to the ultra-serious, driven by a deep fascination with low frequencies and her style was described by DJmag as "metaphorically jazz". In 2024, Nono's set at Freerotation—featuring sampled vocals, personal edits, and a broad spectrum of sounds—was widely acclaimed by both dancers and the press. RA, which named it their favorite mix of the year and 8th best mix of the last 25 years, praised the set’s "jaw-dropping transitions," quoting one listener who described it as the “Big Blend Academy".
Nono spent a decade in Berlin, a period during which she was hosting her Fictions radio shows on Cashmere Radio and promoting her own Fictions parties across town. In the Sameheads basement, she regularly invited friends for all-night-long sweaty and bassy b2bs. She was also a resident at the queer femme and non-binary forward collective Room 4 Resistance.
Nono’s reputation for playful, sometimes obscure sets has been spreading across Europe and worldwide too, although her schedule is organised at boat and train-pace. She has been travelling flight-free for ethical reasons since 2019, embracing “slow gigging” instead. Having toured in North America in 2025, Nono is currently working on an Asia and Australia tour. She campaigns for mobility justice alongside the Stay Grounded network and regularly reflects on these issues via her newsletter.
Alongside these essays, Nono entertains several writing practices, including zine making and academic activities. She completed a PhD thesis in Comparative Literature analysing and comparing Electronic Music criticism.
Nono doesn’t share any pictures of her face publicly. There are no videos of her DJing on Youtube, nor does she post any stories of her performances in club spaces, enjoying instead, a somewhat abrasive relationship to social media.
