"This tour was so expensive. These tours always are."
Financial insights from last year’s over sea and land North American tour, offering a snapshot of its material reality. Includes a *shocked gasp of horror* SPREADSHEET!
Happy Earth Day 🙂
This Thursday, Beatrice M and I will perform at Point Éphémère in Paris as part of DJs4CA’s Earth Night. This annual initiative, held during Earth Week, encourages DJs worldwide to avoid flying during this specific weekend. It feels so so so so so so good to be part of a collective movement and to synchronise our efforts!
At 8:30 PM, Bea and I will join a panel hosted by Chloé Gatignol (Courts Circuits) to discuss our experiences with slow touring. Afterward, we’ll play a b2b set until 1 AM. The event is free, though donations to support DJs4CA are welcome.
One of the biggest challenges of grounded travel is the financial burden, which makes this the perfect moment to finally share the cost breakdown newsletter I’ve been promising. It’s a slightly different edition: more factual and practical, perhaps less poetic. Yet, numbers multiplied by clarity have their own way of touching a deeper truth.
Below, I share financial insights from last year’s over sea and land North American tour, offering a snapshot of its material reality. My hope is to foster solidarity among nightlife workers, spark conversations about dance music and touring economies, and strengthen the case for transport justice and fair mobility systems. Ultimately, I want us to continue exploring what it truly takes to build healthy, equitable cultural ecosystems.
